Please note: Updates roll out in waves so not every device owner receives their update at the same time. If your device says that no update is available right now, just check again tomorrow!

In this tutorial, we're going to show you how to manually check for updates and update your Android phone. Though your Android phone will generally alert you if there are any updates, checking manually is the best way to ensure beyond a doubt that your phone is up to date and has both the latest features and protection against the latest threats.

Tutorial Notes

· Android system updates can add new features, fix security holes and more. As Android system updates happen over the air, no computer is required.

· Some manufacturers modify Android and may block this feature or require you to connect to a PC.

· From the home screen, tap the menu button or pull down the top notifications bar and choose Settings.

· Scroll all the way down to About or About phone and tap to enter. Tap System updates, Software updates or really, anything that says anything about "updates."

· If there are any available updates, you'll see details of the update and an option to update.

· Because updates happen over the air, they can take a while to be downloaded. Ensure you're connected to a Wi-Fi network and you have your Android phone plugged in for the duration of the update process.
