If you have a number of contacts on your Android phone who you frequently call or text, then you should know that there is a way to add shortcuts to one of your home screens to save you time. Adding a direct dial shortcut lets you call a contact quickly and creating a direct message shortcut will save you time when you're texting.

Tutorial Notes

· Speed dial shortcuts give you an easy way to get in touch with your most frequently used contacts.

· Tap and hold on a blank section of your home screen and select Shortcuts from the menu.

· Select Direct dial from the next menu. You'll now see your list of contacts. Find the person you would like to add and tap their name.

· The shortcut will appear on your home screen. If the person has a Google account or Facebook profile associated, then their profile picture will appear.

· You'll also see a letter in the upper-left of their icon indicating what type of contact number it is. H is for home, W is for work, etc.

· Similarly, you can also select Direct message to create a text messaging shortcut or simply Contact to quickly see their contact information.
