Some phones have native call blocking ability, but if your phone doesn't have that and you've got a smart phone, you can often download an app that will do this. Please refer to your particular phone type below to locate the easy instructions on how to block certain calls.
Call Blocking on Android phones
Some Android phones offer a native call blocking feature. This is generally found within the call settings menu of the phone and will send any blocked number calls directly to voicemail.

Android call blocking, users may be interested in purchasing a call blocking app. Many are available. These apps allow you to set up black lists or white lists, and allows you to direct how you wish blocked calls to be handled. You can block entire area codes. You can arrange for incoming blocked calls to be muted, or to default directly to voicemail, or to be disconnected after a set number of rings.
Call Blocking on iPhones
iPhones running iOS6 and iOS7 come equipped with a number blocking feature for both calls and texts. Text messages from blocked numbers will simply go undelivered while calls will go straight to voicemail. Both features can be found in the Settings within their respective apps (Phone and Messages).
You can certainly look into more complex blocking apps for the iPhone but we have found the above options work well.

Currently call blocking is a feature available on the Samsung Ativ S Neo but not the HTC 8XT. The option can be found in the phone's settings. Currently there are no Windows apps available for purchase/download that will add this feature to the 8XT.
