As part of the Activation process, sometimes it is necessary to first disable Wi-Fi and enable data prior to attempting over-the-air updates such as Profile and PRL updates or a Carrier Reset. While the navigation of these options vary from phone to phone we wanted to provide you with the most common places you'll find these settings in different smartphone operating systems.


 Example 1This is a fairly common and super easy pathway to Wi-Fi and data settings in an Android phone


  • Tap Apps and then Settings
  • Tap Wi-Fi and Mobile data to toggle them on and off


Example 2:


  • Tap Apps and then Setting
  • Go to the Connections tab if you're not there
  • Tap the Wi-Fi ON/OFF button to disable
  • Then tap Data usage
  • Check the Mobile data box

 

Example 3:   (In some cases, you'll be able to get to the Wi-Fi and data options by using the quick menu of selected settings)

 

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to show notifications
  • Tap the apps square at the top right to take you to the quick menu of settings

  • Tap Wi-Fi and Mobile Data options to toggle them on and off

 

 

Older Android Phones:

 Android phones running Gingerbread or older often have a slightly longer pathway to finding these settings. The most common is as follows:

 

  • Go to Apps and then Settings
  • Tap Wireless & networks

  • Uncheck Wi-Fi

  • Scroll to Mobile network

  • Check the Data option which may be listed as 3G Data or Mobile data or Data enabled

 

iOS Devices

  •  Go into the device's Settings
  • Tap Wi-Fi and toggle it off
  • Go back to Settings and tap Cellular
  • Toggle Cellular Data to the ON position

 

Windows Phones

  •  Go to the Settings menu
  • Scroll to Wi-Fi and tap
  • Tap the ON/OFF slider to disable
  • Hit the back key to return to the Settings menu
  • Scroll down to Cellular and tap
  • Choose ON from the drop down list of options; on OS7 phones, tap the slider button to turn data off
